The iconic British brand is predicting China will eventually become the world’s biggest market for leisure cruisers with ambitious plans to have 6-8 offices covering the length of the country in order to provide a local point of contact.
Fairline’s confidence in the market is already being rewarded – with a customer from southern China buying the brand’s largest and most exclusive super-luxury cruiser, the Squadron 78 CUSTOM, immediately after its debut at last year’s Shenzhen International Boat Show. This has been followed by more recent purchases of another Squadron 78 CUSTOM earlier this year, along with a Squadron 58, Squadron 50 and Squadron 42.
As part of this year’s marketing drive, it is targeting China’s wealthy boating enthusiasts at the Hainan Rendez-vous boat show in Sanya from April 5-8, and at the China International Boat Show in Shanghai from April 19-22.
On the booming southern holiday resort island of Hainan, Fairline will debut its Squadron 65 luxury cruiser, whilst its sister Squadron 58 will be showcased for the first time in Shanghai.
Fairline China was established two years ago in partnership with region-wide Jebsen Group, to gain a foothold in the Greater China market.
“China continues to grow in terms of market size and potential,” said Bryan Jones, President of Fairline Boats Asia.
“We strongly believe it has the capacity to become the largest marine purchaser in the world alongside the developing markets of South America, Russia and Southeast Asia, which are already contributing to approximately 40% of the company’s turnover.
“There are serious buyers and opportunities for us and China’s most prominent boat shows are our focus for showcasing the brand.”
Lars Petersen, General Manager Fairline China (Jebsen Marine) said: “We are in a new era of luxury spending in China and yachts have made it to a list of sought-after luxuries from top-end sports cars to great wines and watches.”
“China’s affluent market appreciates top quality and they know when they purchase a Fairline they are getting the very best in the yachting world.”
Fairline’s latest icons making their China debut, the Squadron 65 and Squadron 58, continue the brand’s world-class pedigree of cutting-edge technical advancement and peerless craftsmanship. A Squadron 65 was delivered to Hong Kong in March 2012.
With its ‘large yacht’ feeling, the Squadron 65 is a superb flybridge motor yacht voted 'Motor Boat of the Year' 2010 in its category, with three cabins plus crew cabin, all with en-suite bathrooms and elegant ‘floating’ bed designs. The flybridge is designed with sociability in mind featuring comprehensive entertainment facilities and luxurious daybeds. Most recently a Mark II model has been unveiled by Fairline offering an optional four cabin layout with aft crew cabin, giving the choice of accommodation for up to eight people plus two crew members.
With an innovative, avant-garde design, the Squadron 58 has a top speed of 31-32 knots with three engine options and incorporates a magnificent full-beam master stateroom with panoramic hull windows.Back to news and events
