Squadron 42 – An owner’s view

Motor Boat & Yachting spent a day with an owner on his Fairline Squadron 42 to see how he had found his first two seasons on board.

Introduced into the market in 2010, this compact option from the luxuriously appointed Squadron range has proved to be “the one” for this Fairline owner.

Upgrading from his previous Targa 38, the owner, Stewart Smith, has enjoyed the amount of shear usable space this boat offers. A boat that simply defies its dimensions. He was happy to point out the many features of his Squadron 42. The large flybridge, full size bed in the master cabin, reversible transom seat and, in particular, the optional Tender Launch System that has proved invaluable.

Having bought the boat off-plan, Stewart had the opportunity to see his boat being built from the hull mould up and was able to have the flexibility of including his personal touches, like furnishings, as the boat build progressed.

Speaking of the boat, Stewart said, “We use it more like an apartment.” Talking of the flybridge he added, “It gives us the best of both worlds, it is home from home”.
